Riley Music Therapy Internship

DESCRIPTION AND Application Process

  • The music therapy internship is currently on hold through 2026.

  • The next application deadline is December 15, 2026 for Fall 2027 and Winter 2028 internship spots.

    • Interns work 40 hours a week.

    • The internship is divided into an orientation period plus 3-4 intensive rotations.

    • During the rotations, interns get to work closely with one music therapist in their areas of expertise.

Riley Music Therapists focus on three primary domains:

Distress Management

  • Riley MT provides pathways to improve psychological, behavioral, and physiological functioning

Functional Skill Reinforcement

  • Riley MT supports and enhances patients’ ability to engage in activities which assist in slowing or halting decompensation, building tolerance to stimulation, and/or gaining functional skills

Resilience

  • Riley MT supports patients and families’ ability to endure, manage, or overcome stressors.

  • Newborn and Maternal Health

  • Cardiovascular Surgery/Cardiology

  • Neonatal Intensive Care

  • Hematology/Oncology

  • Stem Cell Transplant

  • Plastic Surgery/Burn

  • Pediatric Intensive Care

  • Gastroenterology

Riley Music Therapy Practicum

The Riley Music Therapy Program currently accepts observation practicum and advanced levels 3 & 4 practicum students.
